Chiriquí United is an association of the nine leading humanitarian organizations who work together to serve those in need in the Province of Chiriquí, Panama.
Chiriquí United was formed to facilitate and strengthen the relationships among its Members with the knowledge that, working together, we can accomplish far more than we can working alone. The guiding principles of Chiriquí United are mutual respect, collegial cooperation, and commitment to hard work. Adherence to these principles has enabled us to produce enhanced outcomes for those who we serve. Adherence to these principles has also facilitated the creation of strong and trusted Partnerships among our Members to ensure the success of our joint ventures. |
BIBLIOTECA DE BOQUETE
Biblioteca de Boquete opened its doors to the public in February 2012 as the first lending library in Central America. The library currently houses 10,000 books and has issued over 1,000 library cards. There are a dozen computer workstations and wi-fi service to enable the local community to connect with the world. In addition to being a “traditional” library, it is a cultural center where the community gathers to enjoy art, music, and the written word. An art gallery where local artists display their work is housed on the third floor of this modern building. In addition, the building is a place where people of all ages come to learn and appreciate various forms of musical and performing arts. BUENOS VECINOS DE BOQUETE
Buenos Vecinos de Boquete is a volunteer group that provides basic non-perishable food supplies on a monthly basis to over 118 individuals and their families in the greater Boquete community. The families served are either elderly with no outside support, or have handicapped family members. Buenos Vecinos de Boquete’s clients are selected based on financial need and are visited regularly by a Panamanian Registered Nurse or a Panamanian Social Worker. Funds to purchase food are provided by Bid 4 Boquete, periodic Food Drives held at Romero’s supermarket, and the helping hands and hearts of other donors and volunteers. CLUB DE LEONES DE DAVID
Club de Leones de David, one of 45,000 Lions Clubs worldwide, is engaged in a wide range of Projects including: operation of the Women’s Shelter connected to Hospital Jose Domingo de Obaldia; responsibility as a Patron of the Arturo Miro School and Farm; conducting the Nappy Campaign; providing support for Little League Baseball; and operating a large Gymnasium and Playing Field complex in David. In addition to the Projects listed above, Club de Leones de David is engaged in numerous additional Projects focused on helping those in need and improving the quality of life in Chiriqui, Panama. CLUB ROTARIO DE DAVID
Club de Rotario de David, one of 33,000 Rotary clubs worldwide, is engaged in a wide range of Projects including: the Friendship Park Project; the Rotary Children’s Football League Project; the Varital School Project; the Medical Assistance and Disability Project; the VP School of Cochea Project; the Cochea Community Project; and the Arturo Miro Computer Lab Project. In addition to the Projects listed above, Club Rotario de David is engaged in numerous additional Projects focused on helping those in need and improving the quality of life in Chiriqui, Panama. FUNDACION AMIGOS DE ANIMALES
Amigos de Animales was started in 2005 in response to the need for low cost spaying and neutering of the dogs and cats in Boquete and the surrounding area. Since that time, Amigos de Animales has spayed or neutered over 4,000 cats and dogs and has played an active role in the community promoting the general welfare of animals. As a result, when you now walk around town you rarely see roaming, starving dogs and the impact on the health and well-being of both animals and humans has been significant. |
FUNDACION AMIGOS DE BOQUETE
Fundacion Amigos de Boquete is engaged in three Missions: In our School Mission, we help to feed approximately 1,100 children in 12 Boquete schools a hot nutritious lunch each school day. We also assist the School Parents Associations to pay for the school cooks. In our Container Mission, through our partnership with MATTER (www.mattermore.org) we import humanitarian aid having a value of approximately $7.00 for each dollar that we spend. The aid is distributed in coordination with our trusted Chiriqui United Partners. In our Technology Mission, we have created www.boquetealcalde.com; installed Web Cams in the Boquete Park; filed an Application to borrow the Google Street View Trekker; built an Internet TV Studio; and are in the process of installing free WiFi in the Boquete Park. FUNDACION BID 4 BOQUETE
Fundacion Bid 4 Boquete is a group of dedicated volunteers who organize an Annual Charity Auction and Sale Event in Boquete. All Auction and Sale Event proceeds are donated to Humanitarian Organizations in Boquete. To date Amigos de Animales, Biblioteca de Boquete, Buenos Vecinos de Boquete, Club Leones de Boquete, Club Rotario de Boquete and Fundacion Pro-Integration have all received substantial funding from Fundacion Bid 4 Boquete. THE HANDICAP FOUNDATION
Fundación Pro-Integración de Panama is the local chapter of the Handicap Foundation of Panama. It supports handicapped members of our community, especially those with minimal economic resources. It provides an open, welcoming social environment; wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, and hearing aids. In addition, it provides funds to both transport individuals to special education classes, physical therapy, doctor appointments, and to pay for medications and treatments not covered by social security or public health. It also assists those families with handicapped members. PANAMA CHRISTIAN EVANGELISM
Panama Christian Evangelism is dedicated to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to the Guaymi Tribe of Indigenous Peoples of Panama. As part of their ministry, Panama Christian Evangelism runs a fully functional dental clinic, a medical clinic,and a mobile medical clinic. Other ministries include: Medical Missions, the Clothing Ministry, the School and Schooling Ministry, the Food Ministry, and the Coffee Ministry. In addition to fulfilling its ministry, Panama Christian Evangelism has provided much-needed support to the Panama Ministry of Health and the Boquete Bomberos. |
